Early Detection for Cardiomyopathy

At our foundation, we prioritize early detection for cardiomyopathy, education and research. Our main objective is to prevent or delay cardiomyopathy-related deaths by introducing advanced screening technology to the United States.

Our proposed research focuses on integrating magnetocardiogram (MCG) devices, which use cutting-edge technology to scan and analyze the heart's magnetic field. This noninvasive technique provides highly accurate readings of cardiac activity, allowing healthcare professionals to detect early signs of cardiomyopathy. With early detection, prompt preventive measures can be taken to reduce the risk of complications.

By incorporating MCG devices into routine screenings, we have the potential to significantly reduce healthcare costs and save lives. Research shows that MCG technology improves accuracy and efficiency, leading to quicker diagnoses and early intervention. This can prevent the progression of cardiomyopathy, decrease hospital admissions, and reduce the need for invasive and costly interventions.

STOPCard founder Steve Hilfiker has recently met with Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo to discuss this important research opportunity.

ADVANCEMENTS IN IMAGING TECHNOLOGY

The STOPcard team met with cardiac specialists across the globe in 2022 and 2023. Improved methods for early detection are needed.

In 2022, STOPcard founder Steve Hilfiker advocated with the American Heart Association to help Representative Lawrence McClure pass House Bill 593 in the 2022 Florida Legislative Session. This bill was signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and became law effective July 1, 2022. It requires 911 operators be qualified to instruct callers on giving CPR. This legislation will save lives.

The STOP Cardiomyopathy Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(4) organization committed to addressing the urgent issue of heart disease, which stands as the leading cause of death globally. The foundation focuses specifically on cardiomyopathy, a serious condition that affects the heart muscle and can lead to heart failure if left untreated.

The foundation's primary mission revolves around advocating for the development and implementation of life-saving legislation related to heart disease. By working closely with policymakers, legislators, and other influential stakeholders, the foundation aims to effect positive change and improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiomyopathy.
